Someone said something today in church and I just felt I should share with you all.
He said and I quote “There are two categories of people on earth, those that are pitied and those that are envied.”
And it really got me thinking.
Picture This ===>
Mr A probably has a car and he is going out on a sunny afternoon in his air-conditioned fitted car, the traffic jam is terrible and while he is calm and relaxed possibly listening to cool music from his car stereo. Meanwhile Mr B is out there not just walking and bearing the heat of the scorching sun but equally happens to be hawking wares on the roadside.
Obviously if Mr A sights Mr B, he would pity him whereas Mr B would probably envy the comfort Mr A is enjoying.
Do I talk about academics where there is that person who just happens to always outshine every other person in class and at the same time there is this other person who has failed so many courses.
We know who gets the envy and who gets the pity.
But I started wondering, what is the difference between this two categories? Someone might say fate, another might say luck, hardwork, diligence, fraud, corruption.
Yes, there are so many reasons that could be mentioned, but there is one fact that should not be neglected:
Neither of this category is a permanent one, someone who used to be pitied can suddenly become envied. Whereas someone who used to envied might transit to becoming pitied.
Obviously you know the advice wouldbe: work hard and with God’s help you’ll become in the envied category.
But if you choose to become successful make sure you succeed in the right manner.
Corruption, bribery, stealing might give you enviable positions, but do we consider the pain that the victims go through?
If you want success, please go through the right path.
Remember that God’s children are always envied, so are you part of that family yet? I beg you to join if you are still hesitant about it, it’s surely the right part.
I going to have to stop here.
Happy New Week all. 🙂
