What are you really hungry for?

You see, the problem with being a writer is sometimes thoughts can bubble within you and engulf you so much that it consumes you. You are exhumed by the rush that comes with it, but the problem is if you don’t get pen to paper, or fingers to keypad immediately, the rush can evaporate soon enough. You can always write what you wanted eventually but there’s something about that emotion that courses within you initially, it’s a fuel that pushes you to express all truth buried within you.
Putting pen to paper instantly causes you to birth those words, ideas and thoughts fresh, hot and alive!
Sha, sha, sometime last week I had been bothered about a number of things. This morning I was really pondering on one of them, in fact I cried and prayed to God for mercy. The thought burned within me and I just had to let it out.
It’s sad… Please understand what I’m trying to say before you misinterpret out of context.
I feel sad whenever I come across posts on the internet or meet people who mention how religious we are as a country, you see the thing about these posts is they delve on the corruption and decay in our system despite the number of churches and churchgoers.
It breaks my heart each time, which made me wonder yesterday. It’s Sunday, why are people leaving their houses to attend church?
Why did you attend church yesterday? You don’t need to give me the answer, but honestly, why do you attend church?
It’s sad that a lot of churchgoers are interested in the hand of God rather than His face, and I think that’s the real problem with the system.

Matt6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal  shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do  the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth  that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye  first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all  these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take  therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow  shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient  unto the day is the evil thereof.
NOTE verse 33.
I’m not saying we should not desire the good life, wealth, comfort, prosperity or what have you. That’s not my point. But we should not simply attend church because we want to get prayers or prophecies that assure us of a wonderful prosperous life.
How quick we are to ‘receive’ and ‘claim’ prayers that are targeted at our finances, marriage, business, and all. We want ease, money, cars, marital bliss, trouble for our malefactors, bla, bla, bla.
But there ought to be something deeper.
Christianity is deeper than this!!!
There ought to be a yearning that pushes us.
A yearning for more of God.
If a pastor were to make a prayer that speaks on more of God, and afterwards make one that speaks of a miracle financial turnaround. We both honestly know the difference in the way people would respond to both prayers.
One word… HUNGER!
The true hunger for God should push us, beyond our hunger for the good life here on earth. Because only in our hunger and pursuit of God would we realise that the true good life is the God life… The God life that is totally fixated on God.
Our hunger for God would push us and stop us from being referred to mockingly as a ‘seemingly  religious nation’. The true pursuit of God would radiate and exude through us to all our affairs in the society.
Even ministers fall under this web mistakenly sometimes, they know that the congregation is hungry for material things and would mostly make prayers for financial prosperity while chipping in ‘stylishly’ the need for an hunger for God.
It’s sad because it ought not to be, we ought to be hungry for God. We ought to fall on our knees and submit ourselves to be broken by Christ, trusting Him to iron out the material and physical while we focus on our growth in Him.
I’m not saying you should be poor or be in lack but I’m saying check your hunger… In all honesty, review what drives you to God.

Ps103:7 He made known his WAYS unto Moses, his ACTS unto  the children of Israel.

Do you run to God because you want more of His blessings? Or because you want more of Him?
If you have an hunger burning for God within you, you won’t be able to hold it in. You won’t need to tell your neighbor, ‘I’m a Christian’.

You won’t necessarily have to dress a certain way because the true nature of God in you would be revealed in everything you do.
And if you by chance think you know God and are satisfied with how much you know… I beg you not to be, THERE’S ALWAYS ‘MORE’ IN GOD.
There’s MORE!
It’s a new year, desist from being just a churchgoer who seeks God’s hands only. Rather deliberately allow your hunger push you to be a Christian in all sincerity, one who seeks His face.
Because only when you seek His face will you become more like Him.
2Cor3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Shalom!
From the ramblings of my heart to the door of yours.
I pray you find God and grow in the path He’d have you grow. I love you.
